Monica Geisel

Mrs. Schwingel

My name is Monica Schwingel (formerly Geisel) and I am one of the fourth grade teachers at PGE.  This will be my first year at this school, but my 5th year teaching in Douglas County.  I have been teaching for a total of 6 years. During the 2013/14 school year, I ran the before/after care program at RRE and also subbed in numerous classes here, so you might already be familiar with me.  I taught second grade during the 2012/13 school year in Aurora Public Schools.  I also taught 2nd grade the last three years I've been at RRE.  I have my B.S. in Journalism from CU Boulder and my M.S. in Teaching and Learning from CSU Global.  I am very excited to share this year with your child!  We are going to have fun learning and growing together :).

Just a little bit about me:
I have an almost ten year old daughter named Sammy.  She will be in 4th grade this year at Acres Green Elementary.
I love living here in Colorado.  When I'm not teaching I'm usually hanging out with my daughter Sammy and my fiance Kenny.  I really enjoy going to the mini incline at Philip S. Miller Park, snowboarding, bike riding, hiking, painting, and going to the gym to do Zumba, barre class, and lift weights.

I love to paint, but sometimes find it difficult to fit into my busy schedule.  When I do, I can't stop!  I have a few of my paintings in the classroom :).  I also painted a HUGE mural over at Maddie's Biergarten this summer.  Please check it out!

I love living here in Castle Rock because it is beautiful, peaceful, and full of lots of fun hiking/nature trails.

Please check out my classroom webpage for more information regarding our class, links to favorite sites, links to homework, and more!
